Center for Urban Families Community Conversation Series
The Earned Income Tax Credit
March 16, 2009, 10-2pm

As you may know, the Center for Urban Families regularly uses the data gathered through its program assessments to inform legislators and other influential leaders about the impact of larger policy decisions on the low income, urban communities that we serve. Through its Community Conversations Series, the organization galvanizes practitioners, policy makers, researchers, community leaders and concerned citizens around public policy issues of particular impact for and interest to our client base. Hosted on average 2-4 times a year, the goal of each conversation is not only to provide a forum for the sharing of diverse perspectives on issues of relevance to our local communities, but to also document a collective response to inform larger plans for the development of viable solutions, collective action and progress.

Our next Community Conversation, scheduled for March 16, 2009, 10-2pm will address current policy regarding the Earned Income Tax Credit and its impact for low income fathers and families. The event will consist of a number of diverse panels, each representing the key perspectives and insights of local, state and federal policy makers, practitioners, foundation and grant-making representatives, and most importantly our clients. The location will be the New Shiloh Family Life Center, 2100 North Monroe Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21217.
