For over ten years CFUF has served as the Baltimore STRIVE affiliate facilitating more than 2,700 job placements and continuing to assist more than 3,500 STRIVE Baltimore program alumni. The center’s new Green Jobs Corp will offer individuals from some of Baltimore’s most economically distressed communities with opportunities to gain access to emerging green jobs by providing training in energy efficient building, construction, retrofitting, and deconstruction and material use. Joseph T. Jones Jr., Founder, President and CEO of the CFUF / STRIVE Baltimore said that “As a member of the STRIVE National family, the Center for Urban Families STRIVE Baltimore program is pleased to be a partner with the Obama Administration in creating much needed access to viable training and job opportunities for low-income workers in the emerging green economy. This is the right investment at the right time. Its benefit will prove great in supporting the positive transformation of opportunities for low-income workers, their families, and communities.” CFUF looks forward to implementing this initiative with continued collaboration from its partners including the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, the Community College of Baltimore County, the Job Opportunities Taskforce, Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc., Catholic Charities of Baltimore, the Re-entry Center @ Northwest One]Stop Career Center, and a number of other key stakeholders and employers.
