Practitioners Leadership Institute:Training & Technical Assistance

Built from CFUF’s 10+ year history of providing subject matter expertise and training to community and agency based practitioners devoted to strengthening urban communities through work with low-income fathers and families, CFUF has partnered with the Open Society Foundations to formally establish the CFUF Practitioners’ Leadership Institute (PLI).

Launched in 2011, the PLI is a national initiative designed to build the capacity of and serve as a replication model for community and faith-based organizations, government agencies and other institutions engaged in efforts to structure, implement, and/or manage high-quality Responsible Fatherhood and Family Strengthening programs. Organizations served by the PLI access best practices, tools and strategies for program success; connect with like-minded organizations and trailblazers in the field; and, build organizational strength through hands-on mentorship and coaching provided by seasoned practitioners.

Specializing in engaging hard-to-reach populations, CFUF’s offers a variety of training and technical assistance opportunities, some of which are curriculum-based.  The following provides an overview of PLI's current curriculum-based trainings:

  • The Blueprint Curriculum. A guide to family stability and economic success, this healthy relationships and marriage curriculum focuses on low-income, never-married parents, who are romantically involved.
  • 50/50 Parenting Curriculum. A parenting education and family support curriculum, focused on parents who are not romantically involved,  but who share a desire to effectively co-parent, for the overall growth and development of their children.
  • The DAD MAP (Developing All Dads for Manhood & Parenting). A responsible fatherhood curriculum designed to engage low-income, (primarily non-custodial) fathers, focusing on responsible parenting, workforce development, child support, recidivism, and healthy relationships/marriage.
  • The Blueprint Guidebook. A strategic program planning and implementation manual designed to assist organizations when building-out and/or enhancing human service-oriented programs, supporting the goal of organizational and programmtic sustainability.
