We are engaged in the transformation of Baltimore, with a focus on altering the fundamental nature of our most challenged communities.  Since 1999, the Center for Urban Families (CFUF)—has served Baltimore’s most challenged citizens, changing the lives of men, women and their children primarily by connecting them to career paths and strong family models.   More than 15,000 individuals have sought our services, many of whom are employed, productive citizens passing their skills on to the next generation. 

 

CFUF is unlike any other community organization.  Our multidimensional approach is designed to confront the diverse challenges of Baltimore’s low-income communities.  CFUF provides services to low-income fathers who wish to accept the financial and emotional responsibilities of fatherhood; attitudinal-based employment training and placement services to both men and women through STRIVE Baltimore; support for low-income parents to be parenting partners or to form families; and training and support for STRIVE graduates to earn higher wages and pursue careers.  

 

 

Today, CFUF is nationally recognized for our work—and the positive outcomes for the 15,000 individuals that have been served over the years.

Why give to CFUF?

With a proven record of success, CFUF has helped thousands of low-income Baltimore residents to find and maintain employment.

CFUF’s innovative programs in Responsible Fatherhood, Family Services, and Workforce Development serve as an example to other organizations in the field.

CFUF is expanding! The organization opened its new headquarters in October 2009, and plans to double the number of individuals served on an annual basis by 2012.

Our vision is to serve 20,000 individuals by 2012, doubling our services to the citizens of Baltimore on an annual basis. Our Second Decade Campaign is a $8 million campaign for the future. Our new home will be a building that will allow for expanded office, training, and conference space, computer labs, and flex areas that can be adapted for new programs.

In our new headquarters, we will significantly increase the number of fathers, mothers, and families that we serve. We will provide many more, and more frequent, classes, offer additional computer training and job search services, increase our literacy programs and G.E.D. preparatory classes, hold on-site job fairs and workshops on housing and financial literacy, and expand customized employer training. These are just a handful of examples of what we will be able to do.
