All In For Opportunity
The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) kicked off its ALL In For Opportunity: Summer 2019 Outreach Campaign with a “March for Opportunity” on Monday, July 8, 2019. The march was preceded by remarks by CFUF CEO Joe Jones. Staff then proceeded down Reisterstown Road and marched to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, and then returned on McCullough Street to North Avenue to Fulton Avenue to the CFUF Building. Along the way, CFUF team members talked to residents and recruited them to enroll in CFUF’s workforce development, fatherhood, and family stability programs. We believe that by walking through and engaging our neighbors, we are sending a powerful message that CFUF believes in Baltimore, and that her residents have the ability to achieve economic success and stability with the right supports.
Following the kickoff, we conducted Outreach Jump Outs on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July during the day. A Jump Out is where CFUF staff literally jumped out of a van, then shared literature and talked with individuals in high traffic areas. We served the following locations: Belair/Erdman Avenue; Park Heights/Reisterstown Road/Coldspring Lane; Lexington Market; Eutaw/Saratoga; Monument/North East Market; North/Greenmount; and Mondawmin Subway. Oh July 31, we hosted a closing community party with food, games, and giveaways at the CFUF Building.
Upcoming Outreach
We will conclude the campaign, by conducting morning Outreach Jump Outs at 22 area schools when school reopens.
