Joe Jones, the founder and CEO of The Center for Urban Families (CFUF), was honored for his leadership in hiring highly-skilled, accomplished, and diverse talent and promoting diversity and inclusion throughout the region by the Baltimore Business Journal.  CFUF employs 40+ plus employees who provide workforce development training and family strengthening programs (with a particular interest on fathers) that serve more than 1,100 Baltimore residents each year.

CFUF is a leading workforce-talent provider to the hospitality, medical, logistics, landscaping, manufacturing, packaging, and construction industries.  Each year, CFUF secures more than 300 job placements in these and other industries.  CFUF includes among its employer partners some of the leading companies in the region and nation including Whiting-Turner, Mechanical Engineering & Construction Corporation, McCormick and Company, Arnold Packaging, Pompeian Olive Oil, First Transit, Gray & Sons, Hyatt Regency, Horseshoe Casino, and Holly Poultry.

In addition, to providing leadership to CFUF, Joe is also involved in the community and has been recognized for this leadership.  Joe’s civic engagements include service on the boards of the Open Society Institute-Baltimore, Baltimore Workforce Development Board, and My Brother’s Keeper-Baltimore.  Mr. Jones has received numerous awards and honors for his leadership and programming including the Johns Hopkins University Leadership Development Program’s Distinguished Leadership Award, an honorary Doctorate in Public Service from Morgan State University, the Walter Sondheim Public Service Award, and the White House Champion of Change Award. He is a 2004 Weinberg Fellow, a 2013 CNN Hero, and a current Aspen Institute Ascend Fellow.
